I’ve had a love-hate relationship with Novation. In the studio it has taken me a while to get going with a Novation ReMOTE 37SL Midi Controller which I I’ve yet to figure out completely, its extensive array of menus are somewhat cumbersome to navigate. A latency problem that creates a “creeping” or “progressive” latency effect pretty much renders the whole keyboard section of the controller unusable after a few minutes of turning it on. Weird thing is that it seems as though the faders and knobs work just fine (no latency)!
But let’s put that aside, now take a look at Novation’s new “Dicer”, a combo of two controllers that are Midi mappable to our favorite DJ programs and can be used to control just about any parameter in the software of your choice.

If you used to carry your sampler around to launch samples, airhorns, beats and other such elements while mixing you no longer have to depend on a separate piece of gear to accomplish this tasks. One of the most requested features by users of ScratchLIVE™ software was to have FX within the software and to be able to control more than 2 tracks at once. Serato ScratchLIVE™ 2.0 delivers!
This is a quick example on to it can work (assuming that you have Rane’s new 4 channel mixer or an SL3 interface), via Serato SL3:

If you are a Serato user looking to soak up some much needed shortcut knowledge (among other things) please, start by reading your shortcut guide that came with your hardware and don’t skimp on the MANUAL, then head over to Serato Tutor OR SeratoHQ and use your SHORT-KUTS while at the club/bedroom/etc. to put everything you learned into action!
In a short while we’ll have a series of Tutorials that you can view as well (see main menu), but as it stands, all you need to do is search and you will find tons of great resources.

We have been following ScratchLIVE since version 1.4 or so and as it is expected with a version upgrade of any software that moves into the 2.0 realm, the debuting features of this upgrade are nothing short of AWESOME.
Here is the full list of highlights from the yet to be released (officially) 2.0 beta build:
